Description of the assignment
I lead design on the Ahlsell e-com App (Alpha)

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Like many companies, Ahlsell is in its digital transformation journey and wanted to launch its first project, creating a new e-commerce app built on the basis of a user-centered design. An app that provided an excellent shopping experience. would also offer a great opportunity to increase sales.
The work included interviews with stakeholders, customers, user tests with customers, developing wireframes, prototypes and final art that would then be built by the developers. The work also included presentations and demos to the organization and the steering group for feedback and discussions.
Project Goals
1. Creating an extraordinary e-commerce experience on a mobile device
2. Creating a loyal and recurring customer base
3. Establishing trust and credibility through excellent service
4. Using technology to complement the in-store experience
5. Differentiating from competitors through innovation

Implementation
Together with a team of developers, we developed an MVP for an e-com app. Our work included interviews with stakeholders, customers, user tests with customers, developing wireframes, prototypes and final art that then would be built by the developers. Our work also included presentations and demos to the client and the steering group for feedback and discussions.

Facilitated search
Most users start their journey by searching. As this behavior was very strong in the target group, the facilitation of the search needed to be optimal. For this purpose, the search bar was made extra visible on the homepage to make it easier for users to search.

More high quality images
We saw early on that the images were the first thing users looked at. They also wanted to see more product pictures of good quality in order to make purchasing decisions. There were also requests to see product pictures from various angles to make all details visible.
Search results
Customers were enabled to see stock balances in the searches in order to decide on pick up locations based on their own location.

Multichoice filter

Ahlsell has a huge product catalog that can make it difficult for a user to find exactly what they are looking for. Therefore, we developed a filter that could enable users to fine-tune the products they are looking for.
Project outcome

The future of the app looks very promising and I am convinced that the app will generate revenue based on its potential. It is important that the team continues to work with qualitative tests combined with data analytics in order to make important strategic decisions benefiting the users.
